After a few years of hiatus, I have finally found myself sitting and drinking at a Coffee Bean outlet. A few years back, when I worked in town, I used to spend some time with friends at the Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf at Wisma Merdeka, Kota Kinabalu. That was until I tasted Starbuck’s Java Frappucino and felt so at ease in there.
I must say that I am truly delighted with the Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf at Damai Plaza. Very spacious, good lightings and cute comfortable seats. The space is discreetly divided into 3 areas, and there are tvs placed for those that really has nothing else to see but the volume must be very low, or on mute, couldn’t be sure as I tucked myself at the far corner. I saw more than 6 friendly staff attending to customers, which is really very different from Starbucks.
Before I forget, I really love the curvy backs of the chairs, just nice for my back and with a place to rest my arms. The height of the table is just right for doing some reading, writing, etc. I think they may have some some renovation on the place as everything looks new though the place has been around for quite a few years.
As I came in after 3pm, I had the opportunity to taste a slice of their Cheese Cake together with a big cup of coffee for only RM9.50. In my limited cake-tasting experience, I believe the cake is tastier than New York or Cappucino Cheese Cake of Secret Recipe. I also ordered their Ice Mocha Latte – not bad at all!
I noticed many young patrons, most probably students with their laptops, having discussions. There are at least 2 sockets conveniently placed near each table, proof of the outlet’s concern for laptop users. In short, if not for the shortage of parking space at the Damai Plaza, I would definitely prefer to sit in this Coffee Bean outlet.
